About this place

Szklarki Waterfall is the second highest waterfall in the Polish Karkonosze range (13.3 meters), tucked away inside a dramatic granite gorge within an enclave of the Karkonosze National Park. The water cascades down a spiraling, broad rock face into a crystal-clear plunge pool, creating one of the most photographed natural monuments in the Western Sudetes. Perched directly beside the falls is Schronisko Kochanówka, a charming wooden mountain hut originating in 1868. Originally established to host early spa visitors from Bad Warmbrunn and Schreiberhau, it continues to welcome hikers with hot mountain tea, traditional Polish dishes, and a rustic riverside terrace. The approach from the main road follows a flat, paved riverside trail shaded by majestic beech and spruce trees, making it completely accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, and casual walkers.

Local Insider Tip

Arrive before 9:30 AM to catch the morning sun filtering through the mist in solitude, then follow the black trail up to the stunning Złoty Widok (Golden View) rocky overlook.
